I use IE 8.0 and Win XP Home with SP-3. Although I have my outlook express configured to send e-mails immediately I find most often when I click on send the e-mail is placed in my out box. To send I have to "X" out of outlook express and when do so the outbox folder content of messages will be transmitted. I have tried to reregister the OE but fail on two item . Further when I shut down I have to manually close OE. Any suggestions appreciated.

It might only be a corrupt Outbox.

To find out, open Outlook Express and make sure the Outbox folder is empty. Then go to Tools>Options>Maintenance tab and click on the Store Folder button. That will tell you the location of OE's files.

Close OE and navigate to that folder. Find and delete the "outbox.dbx" file. You can, if you prefer, just rename it to outbox.old.

Reopen OE (it will make a new Outbox file) and send a test message to see if that fixed the problem.

If it didn't, move everything in the Sent Items folder you don't want to lose somewhere else for save keeping (make another folder in OE and move them there, for example). Then, with OE closed, go back into the store folder and delete, or rename, the "sent items.dbx" file. See if that fixes it.
