This nasty little thing seems to be in one of the "family" computers since both my mother-in-law and I are getting multiple "detections" by Norton daily. I've had great luck in the past tracing the true sender but with this one I'm stumped.

I managed to trace the ip address to a corp. but no one in the family is associated with them so I think it's a fake.

Does anyone know of a way to trace the true sender of this worm?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Brenda J
Wouldn't it be easier to send the fixtool to everyone in your address book......and ask them to do the same?

Since this particular critter, after infecting a PC, will try to send mail to addresses from any M$ Windows Address Book, MSN Messenger List, Yahoo Pager list, ICQ list, and files with extensions containing the letters ht, I'm not really sure that trying to track down a particular sender would do any good.

Maybe you could let the sender know he/she/it was infected but anyone in this day and age who runs without good AV protection is probably too brain-dead to make it worth the effort.

I've done that already but many of the family members are in their 70s and 80s and just don't understand a lot beyond email. If I can trace it to one computer I can get a younger more tech savvy family member in their location to help them get rid of it.
