I have a Vista Home Premium SP2 computer trying to remote to an XP SP3 computer. We are on the same network and I can remote to another XP SP3 comuter. I've checked the remote connect box to allow both computers to connect. My user is an administrator. The NIC card drivers are up to date and the bios is up to date. Dell has waved the white flag and gave me the standard "Just reinstall windows" bit. HELP!

I did get an error about something but the tech working on the computer clicked dont show again and i havnt seen it since.. I changes the server authentication and the message came back...

The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. DO you want to connect anyway?

This is the only message I get .. I try to connect and it just stopa and does nothing

Do you have the same username and passwords on both the xp and vista machines?

On the vista machine, open control panel>system and click remote settings.
Make sure 'allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop' is chosen. Select Users and make sure the user account you are using on the computer you are connecting from is in the list.
On the xp machines you can right click My Computer and choose Properties. There is a Remote tab you can select to reach the same settings.
Double check that you are entering the proper IP or hostname in the RDP client when you attempt to connect.
