Hi XP dummy. Check to make sure that the programs Start Menu shortcuts are located in the following directory, C:/Users/User Name/Start Menu/Programs. If you want the programs Start Menu shortcuts to appear for all users then navigate to the following directory, C:/Users/All Users/Start Menu/Programs and place the programs shortcuts in that directory so it shows up for all users on the computer.

Some programs installer will ask you if it needs to be installed for the current user only or for all users, so choosing current user only won't have the program available to other users of the computer.

Ok, in order to check the programs shortcuts click Start< My Computer< Double click on your C Drive. Now follow the instructions in my first post.

Well...........when I get as far as Users, clicking on that gets me the individual users, not All Users. My administrator account is not listed, and clicking on any of the others doesn't give me an option for start menu. I'm finding that I don't like Vista much.

How is your administrator account not listed when you go to C:/Users? Try navigating to the following directory, C:/Users/All Users/Start Menu/Programs. Now minimize the Explorer window. Now on the desktop of your user profile click Start< All Programs< Right click on the shortcut of the program you wish to have in all the profiles and select copy. Now open up the explorer window that you minimized earlier, right click and select paste. Now the programs shortcuts should appear in the Start< All Programs area of the Start Menu for all the users.

First answer, I don't know, but it's not there. I can't get to the directory you mention. I get as far as Users; there is no All Users, as well as no Start Menu, or no Programs. I don't know the why.

Ok, read this, Show Hidden Files and Folders in Windows Vista. In addition to following the instructions in that link, when your in the folder options window uncheck the checkbox that says Hide Protected Operating System Files. When done click apply and ok. Now attempt to navigate to the directory.

Thanks for the continuing help; we're making progress. Some of the hidden files/folders are now visible. When I get as far as trying to open the Start Menu, I get an access denied window. Now what?
