Resolved Cannot close program on DeskTop

    I use WinXP home SP-3 and IE 8.0. On my desk top I have a program page which I cannot close no matter what I try. Task Manager doesd not close it-any other suggestions?

    Just guessing here, but if it's the "Common Tasks" bar...vertical bar with the same links as found in the usual left pane of a folder...download the fix from this Doug Knox page.

    Just follow the instructions on that page.

    I mis characterized the "program" on my desk top. I have now determined that it is a picture but I still do not know how to delete it.

    Thanks. I have conclusively found that the images on my desk top (3 of them) are actually pictures.I have found that they are DESKTOP.bmp and DESKTOP.JPG. Is the Doug Know program useful in deleting them???
