Windows Vista [Startup problems - valid password rejected and shuts down]

    hello my girlfrined just bought herself a toshiba laptop and now whenever she turns it on it goes the the toshiba welcome page with the boot menu and all that stuff on the bottom the the screen goes black and a blue dialog box pops up looking like an old version of windows and it says enter current password i entered her password and hit enter i do that three times then the computer shuts off is there anyone who can help me please

    I wonder if it is a BIOS password screen. Try booting into the BIOS/Startup configuration settings. Look for setting related to a password (see if the BIOS menus are listed in the manual/User Guide). There should be something like Set Defaults. Select Save and Exit when you are finished.

    It should be under Warranty, contact Toshiba (you might be able to contact them through their website).

    One more thing. Make sure the battery is fully charged before you start working on it.
