Word has stopped printing some text. I have an HP 5550 Deskjet and Word. All has been fine until recently. I put together some text driving directions and the title printed, but nothing under that. The printer makes the right sounds on the unprinted lines, just no ink signal. Looks good in Print Preview, too!

However, on a webpage, it prints fine so it does not seem to be the printer. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the Printer Driver., with no benefit.

    Any ideas? Thanks, Lar

I had this same problem when I got my printer at a garage sale. Turns out, something was wrong with the black ink cartridge. In certain cases, such as large font titles, or webpages, the black is printed via the color cartridge, by layering the three colors. Replacing your black cartridge will probably fix the problem.

Hi, thanks, it turned out to be exactly that, the cartridge. So... it was a Hardware issue, not a software one.

My trusty 5550 is back in biz.

    Best, Lar
