Windows xp 2002 service pack2 [appropriate permissions]

    I am using os : Windows xp 2002 service pack2 and i am the administrator but when i install flash player it gives me a error saying "you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

    why is that so,


    can any one help me in this regards..

    Hi phoenixstanley, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    Try shutting down all background programs that are running in the system tray and then try to install flash player. When you download flash player try saving it to your harddrive and then run it.

    If that doesn't work then take ownership of the flash_player.exe file by following the instructions in this link, How to take ownership of a file or a folder in Windows XP.

    If that still doesn't work then log into the administrator account and then attempt to install flash player from there, How to log into the Administrator account in Windows XP.

    you may be signed into groups.run the MBSA 2.1 free from microsoft.if worse comes to it then you will have to determin with the registry where and what is affecting your permissions.system configuration tool/s may help with the diagnostic mode.
