I have an acer aspire laptop. It has been playing up and freezing regularly but now when I switch it on it does a scan disc and finds an unspecified error. It goes to the the log on screen but I can't get past that. It did not come with any recovery discs. Will I have to reboot it back to factory settings and how can I do this?
    thanks

If it didn't come with recovery disks there should be a recovery partition on the HDD. I see reference to a couple of possibilities:

"alt-f10" at boot up should start the recovery program

'Acer eManager' (3rd button left of power on/off) can launch 'eRecovery' which isn't mentioned in the manual

NOTE - this will reformat the HDD and any data will be lost.
