    Hi
I have a problem when I start IE. I get the following error:

" Rundll32 has caused an error in <unknown>
    Rundll32 will now close. "

Then I immediately get another error box that says:

" Rundll32 has caused an error in Kernel32.DLL
    Rundll32 wil now close. "

The only time this happens is when I go on the internet and it happens everytime I change sites.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi rogi,
Without knowing the whole error message.....how about a guess? Run Ad-aware and see if it clears it up?

Sorry I didn't put this in the previous reply. The complete message has : "If you continue to experience problems, Try restarting your computer." This is under the two original errors that I posted. I have restarted my computer several times with no results.

If you have New.net or SaveNow installed, this article might help.

If it doesn't, check out this page for help on various rundll32 errors.

    What OS do you have!

If win95/8/or me reboot to dos! This is not from windows but from a boot disk or thru F8 to the windows boot menu and pick the command prompt only!

If you have ME it will require a boot disk!

    Then type this:

del c:\*.swp hit enter it may say file not found or nothing!

    then

    del c:\windows\*.swp hit enter

    then

if you do not have ME

    cd\windows hit enter

    then

    c:\windows\command\deltree temp\*.* enter

    answer y enter to confirm

    then

    reboot to safe mode

    go to control panel-internet options

on this page click delete files and also then chose all offline files and click delete!

shutdown and reboot to full mode and test now!

    report back!

    Mike

    Hi Miz & Mike

I am running Windows ME and do not have New.Net or SaveNow. I booted with my boot disk, ran : del: c\*.swp, it stated file not found. Ran : del c:\windows\*.swp and nothing happened. On rebooting to full mode I still have the same problem.

    Hi Rogi
I know this must be frustrating. Everything that I've gone looking for, still points back to New.net. See here.

I think Daizy is correct! This is some kind of spyware!

You said you had run Adaware but was it the latest engine and signatures?

And did you run it in full deep mode?

If not go here to get the latest, uninstall old first!

    http://www.lavasoft.de

Also get SpyBot and after install run update and get all new except the languages which are the top 6 "“ 8 I think!

    http://beam.to/spybotsd

When you did not get a response back from del c:\windows\*.swp that means it found the file and it did work! Good!

Since you did the other cleans there is one more you should do. Reboot to safe mode again and browse with my computer to c:\windows\temp

While here do ctrl a to highlight all files. Then hit del to delete them all. If it says anything about being a program or etc say YES to delete anyway!

Before reboot back to full empty the recycle bin!

Do this cleanup before downloading and running the above programs!

Thanks a lot ;) Daizy, Mike and Miz and everyone on BBS

You people are the greatest and this is the reason I come to you for assistance. A computer is great when it does what you want it to do. Other times it's a pain and that's where BBS comes into the picture.

    Thanks for all your help

    Great Rogi

I too thank you for your acknowledgement!

Would you now be so kind as to give us a report!

What was the specific thing that fixed it?

So that others may learn, and we will know what to do next time!

    Smile!

I feel like a the north end of a horse going south.
While looking for all the reasons you gave like New.net, SaveNow, Spyware, and Rundll32 errors I read under one MS error cause that it could be a virus. I had already done a virus scan and began looking at my Norton Virus settings when I noticed that Norton's firewall was enabled. Since I am running ZA I disabled Norton's and it seems the two were conflicting and causing my error. Hope this helps some for future problems.
