Control Panel -Display Settings-Font Size Set too large, now I can't change any display settings because the APPLY area of the page is cut off. Here's what happened, I set my system font size to 150% so I could see the screen better. The problem is that every thng I try to use has the bottom and right side cut off. Such as the Apply button mentioned above. Is there a way to restore the default font size without using the Display Settings in Control Panel. Perhaps even is there a file I can delete and then reload from my Windows 2000 OS CD? Thanks, davidswfla@msn.com

Hi davidswfla and welcome to you.

    start~run~regedt32

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\console and you should see 3 items beginning with "Font ". All REG_DWORD.

Set the value of each to 0 (that is zero) and close regedt32. This should set things to use the defaults which will be fine.

If you aren't comfortable with editing the registry, the other option is to get back to the screen where you change the font size and set it like you want then TAB. Not sure what yours looks like exactly (different video cards will have differing numbers of locations for you to TAB to) but it will jump to the next box or button. Press ENTER. If it had jumped to the APPLY button, your changes will take. If not, try again but tab twice. And just keep doing this until your screen settings get back to the smaller ones.

Even though the TAB key should take you off the visible part of the screen, it will work normally. You just can't see where it has jumped to.

A suggestion: use Accessibility Options in Control Panel to set your high-visivility font and contrast settings. When you run into display problems, common not only in configuration windows , as you ran into, but also on many web pages, you can easily switch them off. Alt-Shift-PrtScr toggles accessibility features on and off - very convenient. And get a good-quality magnifying lens. I've tried many, to assist my old and failing eyes, and one of the best I've found is available at Penn Tool Co. (at http://www.penntoolco.com ) - it's listed as a Parasitic magnifier (I imagine that entomologists use it to look at bugs, and it also works well on small bug-sized fonts).
