I just noticed that everytime I right click on any icon to open a file it brings up an MS box to report an error to MS. I am running WIN XP Pro SP2 on a laptop. This seems to have just started. I have not loaded any new programs on my laptop but I have been installing all of the MS critical updates.
How do I fix this problem and get back my right click drop down menu?

Not sure on the drop down thing, but you don't have all the security updates if you are still using SP2. SP3 has a lot of them that should be downloaded. Have SP3 on all my PC's and all that I fix and no problems with it. Just my opinion.
Try deleting your cookies and everything else. Also go to My Computer and right click on it and left click Properties/Advanced tab/Error Reporting and just have, disable error reporting, But notify me when critical errors occur ticked and checked. Reboot and see if it goes away.

I think this happened when I received a message to upgrade Javascript and I did it. It has nothing to do with SP3.

I used ShellExview and identified that NAV had installed and IEcontextmenu on 8/20. I could not disable this program. I uninstalled NAV and the right mouse context menu worked!!
I reinstalled NAV and it does not work again, apparently for the same reason.
This is a NAV problem - for sure!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't say it had anything to do with SP3. I stated that you stated that you were up to date on all MS critical updates. SP3 is a critical update and there are updates to it also. That would make you 100% updated with MS critical updates.

I'm sorry but this problem has not been resolved. The problem disappears when NAV is uninstalled but it is a real problem with NAV installed. I worked with a NAV Technician for 2.5 hours last night and he could not solve the problem.

Well, IMHO the problem is soled. You know what causes it, and it is a problem caused by a 3rd party product.

OK. you are correct in the 3rd party involvement, but the problem has not been solved and I have not heard from Michael York. I hope he looks into this and I will continue to endure the "no right mouse click ".
