    Hi,
I would like to backup my Vista Mail emails and have tried 2 options:
    1. Using the Export option
    2. Directly copying the local files found in AppData

My problem is that I have several folders within my Inbox each containing several subfolders within.

Not all the folders seem to be visible and the file/email names seem to be changed when I export (eg: folder was called ABC - 123, but when exported is called AB - 23)

Is there any way I can have an exact copy of what I see when I open Windows Mail (folder hierarchy) when I back up? As I am concerned I am not 'backing up' everything.

    Thanks.

    Thanks PeteC,

Can I ask a quick question...

When I look at my emails in Vista I have them nicely sorted into folders and subfolders etc. When I follow the instructions in the link you provided, some of my folders don't seem to be there and some emails are moved around. Is this normal? And if not, is there some way I can sort this out.

    Thank you.

I really can't answer that question - AFAIK Windows Mail stores emails, etc in a different manner to Outlook Express, which I have used for many years, only recently changing to Outlook with the installation of Windows 7 Pro x64. (OE 'died' with the introduction of Windows Mail and then Windows Live Mail).
