I have a Logitech 960 USB headset that works great with my XP home computer but with the XP Pro computer, the volume slides to zero on the volume control. I have exhausted problem solving with Logitech and they suggest a glitch with Windows.

Which "volume" are you referring to, the main Windows volume, a volume in a media player or some sort of Logitech software?

If you installed Logitech software for it, try uninstalling it. See if it will run without software (just install drivers if it needs drivers).

Look for any similar type of software and try uninstalling/reinstalling that. That could be the software for the audio system. Look for updated software for the audio controller. Do you use the audio built into the motherboard or maybe an external or add-in card audio system? (Edit: since it is USB I suppose it uses the motherboard controller)

The main Windows volume is what is impacted when this head set is plugged in. There is no sound and when opening the Windows volume control, the volume slider keeps dropping to zero if I try to turn up the volume.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Logitech headset drivers. This is a new computer with Windows XP Pro. This headset works fine on any computers with Windows XP home.

My best suggestion is to look for third party programs that could be interfering. Here's my websearch

Look at programs like media players (one was fixed by updating Winamp), VoIP programs, etc.

It sounds like a software problem to me, rather than drivers. As I said, check for updates for your audio controller (it will have an "audio manager" that will control Windows volume).

USB drivers, I doubt it, but those will be (bundled) with the chipset drivers for the motherboard.

    Information about defaults here
