Every day or so my favorites folder gains all the MSN, Suggested sties and WebSlice favorites back. I keep deleting the pesky critters but they keep reappearing. They automatically add themselves back too my Favorites Bar also.

WebSlice, I haven't heard of that. Whatever adds that might be adding the others or taking you "back in time ".

Come to think of it, I don't know "Suggested Sites" either (could be OEM...Dell, HP, Gateway, etc). You are using Internet Explorer?

You will need to look behind what might be keeping it's Favorites there. It could be malware.

I am using IE8 and this is a home built system with a new OEM copy of Vista Home Premium. The Folders are added by IE8. they were not in IE7.

I have IE8 and I don't have "Suggested Sites ", let alone WebSlice.

You may have invited a, what I might term "unscrupulous ", program (others might see it as malware). I might wonder if it is some sort of "hijack ".

As long as it does not take control of your homepage, create popups, etc, I could just ignore it. It should be very lame malware if you have sufficient security on your system.

"Suggested Sites" is an IE8 option. When you first start using IE8 you'll be prompted if you want to use it.

You can turn off Suggested Sites by clicking on Tools > Internet Options, select then Advanced tab. In the Settings box scroll down until you locate Enable Suggested Sites and remove the check mark.

It will not remove Suggested Sites from the favorites bar however. What you can do is just right-click the Suggested Sites button & click Delete. That'll do the trick.

Oh yes you do! They are both technologies bundled in IE8.

Maybe I'm not explaining myself well.:( Suggested sites is turned off. The folder still exists in my favorite bar. It does'nt gain any sites though. The folders "suggested sites" & "webslices" keep reappearing in my favorite bar. It also adds multiple MSN sites. When this happens, it bumps my favorites, the ones that I want, out of the favorites bar. I then have to go to the favorites bar folder and delete them so my sites will show up on the bar again.

It will take a long time to discover all the little bugs that IE8 has. I just discovered that pressing ctrl+shift+d will place a shortcut of the current url onto the favorites Bar. Repeat it for multiple ones. That might be useful but for me it rendered an existing key combo into a little more than I wanted.

I assume that's a bug and not by design. ;)

    An update

I no longer have the "suggested sites" folder coming back. It also seem that the only tome I get the other pesky "favorites" re-added is when a windows update is installed. Any help?
