Hope someone can shed some light on this one for me?. When using IRC my Local Host name is the name of my pc instead of the DNS name of my ISP's IP address? anyone any ideas why?.

    Details:-
    Windows XP Pro
    ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall

Disabled the DNS service and a few others which i don't need.

it's really strange cause when ZoneAlarm Pro blocks an external attack the Source DNS is the Intruders ISP DNS Name ie. host217.150.16.20.pooles.net and the Destination DNS is once again my local Machine name instead of it being my ISP's DNS ie. host217.150.16.23.pooles.net.

When using netstat the Local DNS/NETBIOS address is once again the DNS/NETBIOS name of my machine not that of the ISP's IP address. Hope this make some sense to you lot?

I have disabled a few settings within the dial-up settings ie NetBios over IP and the LMHOSTs file, cause well i just don't use them.

    Any ideas would be helpfull..

Well, it's because your Local Host name is just that, a local name, and will always be the computer name and won't never be your ISP's address.
