    Hi Ramona,
I'm going to sell my 8.9" Acer netbook and buy the 10.1" one on sale at Costco. I love the one I have but the keyboard is too small for my big paws and I make too many typos. Before I get rid of it, I want to save the profiles from Firefox and Thunderbird on a memory stick so I can transfer all of this data to the new netbook. I think I know where this data is, but thought I would ask you just to be sure I remove everything. On the new computer, I would just paste these files into a similar location and then reload Firefox and Thunderbird - and those programs would find the profiles, right?
    Thanks for all your help.
    Bob

I would do the following. 1.Copy the profile folders to the memory stick. 2.Delete the profile on your old laptop.3. Copy/Paste the profiles saved on the thumb drive to the same location in your new laptop. Refer to Ramona's page for Firefox. As for TB the path is:C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles, instead. The paths are for WinXP. I don't have Vista, as you, most likely, will have, but I think that the profile paths are:Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles, for FF and TB, respectively. I have given different names to the profiles, which are of the type xxxxxx.Name. In such case, you could start using the old profile by means of the bypass method, replacing the path appropriate for FF and TB. If there is only a .default profile, the contents, as listed by Ramona, could be copy/pasted in the newly created profile in Vista
