I saved a bunch of ppsx files as pps since I know that many of my correspondants don't have Office 2007, but I discovered that the file size increased to the point that it is no longer reasonable to send them as attachments to an e-mail.
One went from 2 to 9 MB
the second from 3 to 34 MB
another from 4 to 21 MB
    Am I doing something wrong?
Is there a trick that I can use to avoid this?

    Thanks

    Claude

Just a wild guess - maybe the system is saving other info that the older office versions will need to view the file.

One trick you might consider is getting your "correspondants" to download and install the Compatibility Pack so they can read the ppsx files.

Thank you Steve, I'll follow your suggestion.
If anyone can explain why this outrageous increase in file size happens, I'm still curious to find out.
Don't tell me that it's a MS ploy to get people into Office 2007!!

The office 2007 file format is that much smalled because they are compressed, that's one of Office 2007's advantages.

Thanks Arie, I had read the blurb about ppsx being compressed, but explain this:

I received a pps, it was 3.4 MB, I modified it by removing a couple of slides inappropriate for some, and first saved it as ppsx, it was then 2.96 MB, when I saved it again as pps, it grew to 34MB!

See if you have Embed fonts in th file checked (under Save options). That's about the only thing I can think of.
