    Juliet,

I did have WinPatrol disabled while doing the scans etc.

I have removed ComboFix, and followed your instructions to remove the rest.

My machine seems to behaving itself now.

I will D/L WOT, as my McFee site advisor is no longer present?

Thanks for your time and patience. Your help was much appreciated.

    Shorerider.

From a glance site advisor is still onboard but probably not functioning as it should.
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {089FD14D-132B-48FC-8861-0048AE113215} - C:\Program Files\SiteAdvisor\4979\SiteAdv.dll
You have AVG8 on the computer which also has a link scanner bundled into the package thats supposed to work along the same lines.....Causes more problems then actually helps.

Glad to hear the computer is now behaving.

    Juliet,

I have D/Lded & installed WOT, however it doesn't appear to be working?

Should it be present in the View/Toolbars list?

Because of this, I've also tried to D/L & re-install McFee Site Advisor with the same results.

In Tools/Manage add-ons, both are listed, yet are not on the toolbar list.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers, Shorerider.

And I think it's interfering here. Is the icon placed on your Firefox toolbar?
it will color-code dangerous sites for you.

    Juliet,

I haven't made the switch to Firefox yet, but will when I have the time to.

However, before all the cleaning up on my machine McAfee was working fine with IE and AVG. And yes, I had the color coded icon in the toolbar. So, in theory, I should at least be able to get McAfee to work.

In theory yes but, these two programs essentially do the same thing just about and WOT probably just kicked McAfee's hind quarters.
Honestly I think theres a compatibility between the two applications.

    Juliet,

I have uninstalled/removed WOT (for now) in an attempt to avoid any conflict issues to get McAfee Site Advisor to work. I've had it running before without any problems. However, I still can't manage to get it to work.

As I said earlier, in Tools/Manage add-ons McAfee is listed (WOT is not), yet it is not on the view toolbar list of options.
