Can any body please help me with this?

I have a dell dimension 2100 celeron computer with a millenium edition os.

I cannot creat a system restore point and was wondering why? I have it enabled but cannot create one as it does not come up with this option when I enter system restore.

Any ideas how I would get this working again? Perhaps it's corrupt?

Perhaps your Restore folder is corrupt? The sure fire way to clean it up is to delete the folder and let windows rebuild it as it boots up. The best way I know to do this is with WinMe is to use a boot floppy. You can make one from the Control Panel\Add Remove Programs, select Startup Floppy tab. Or go to http://bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm and download the OEM version. Insert a floppy and doubleclick the file and a boot floppy will be created.
    Boot the computer with the floppy, select "Without CD Rom Support ". When the A:\> appears, type in this command;
    deltree c:\_restore
Type a Y that you want to delete when prompted.
When it is done, simply remove the floppy and boot the computer.
The other alternative is to use the Killbox http://killbox.net/ .
You'll need to set it to delete directories under Options then use this folder name, C:\_Restore . Set Killbox to Delete on Reboot, then press the red button.
Please note that there is an underline character in the foldername.

Thank you very much for the help it's much appreciated.

I will try these things you have mentioned soon and then I'll let you know the outcome, but it will have to be the way you mentioned through the floppy disk as I've no way of connecting the computer in question to the net.

I cannot connect because of some problem updating the hardware information database therefore I can't get my pci wireless device working at all.

Thanks very much for your help so far!

I may be some time replying as I currently have a weak internet signal and my connection is up and down at the moment, hope you understand as I'm using a Orange dongle for my connection.

    Thanks.

I've tried A:\>deltree c:\_restore so far it just says it's a bad command or file name.
Unless the point I'm trying to access is also corrupt? What do you think? I'll try again with another boot up disk to rule this out.

Just trying now, no sorry it's saying the same thing again, bad command.

Thanks anyway, do you have any other idears?

Are you sure you are choosing "Without CD Rom support" and not the "Command Prompt Only "?
If you choose 'Command Prompt Only ", you'll get that error message as the PATH setting is not used in this mode with WinME.
When using "Without CD Rom support" the PATH setting is used.
    What is a PATH? http://www.computerhope.com/pathhlp.htm
    This command should definitely work.
    c:\windows\command\deltree.exe c:\_restore

    Thank you!

I'll try the things mentioned within the link to the website you've provided for me, thanks. I did select the option (without support or help).

I've also just recently purchased a PC analyzer and pluged this into a PCI slot, all my power lights lit up so I shouldn't have any problems with power, also I went through the analyzers steps pressing it's button all the way through and got the all clear message of FFFF that means the componet I'm testing is fine according to it's user guide. :)

I am a little worried about what you've mentioned to try on this wesite as is says for windows 95, just curious does this also mean it works for the upgraded version of 95 that is my OS ME? Suppose this could be a silly question to ask, but would just like to varify it as I'm a beginner in terms of computer literacy.

Many many thanks for your help so for it's much appreciated.
