What does it mean when there is an icon in my tray showing "CPU USAGE" with a percentage when I put the mouse over it? The icon goes up and down with a green light flashing up and down. This is only showing when I am using IE software. I also notice many times I get a message that the IE is not responding. I have tried disconnecting the modem and reconnecting and sometimes the system will come up.
I use XP with IE software.
    Thanks

When you see the icon - do you have Task Manager open?

I do not have the task manager open when the icon shows up. I still have IE6 installed. I have not updated as yet to IE8. I am planning on doing this shortly, like maybe this weekend.

Windows nor IE has a CPU icon by default. (except task manager) Maybe you installed somethng that displays the icon.

Why on earth would anyone using XP or later still run IE6? It's the web browser equivalent of Millenium!
