start up dell 1700 xp

for some unknown reason my dell vostro1700 xp laptop
is having start up issues it goes to the start up screen at the beg...and then dies??i try to get into safe mode by pressing f2 but it dies as i hit the f2 button
i use ccleaner/malware bytes and all was clean yesterday

i dont have a flash drive to load anything at this tom

 

it shuts down,,i should have said powers up then powers down......

 

I generally relate shutdowns to overheating. The cooling system might be blocked with dust.

 

If you are pressing F2 and it dies, that sounds to me like either a motherboard issue, or a BIOS corruption.
