Windows 7 and sleep mode

    I'm running Win 7..amd 3.2 gig processor. When I put
    windows to sleep, it restarts about 2 seconds later..Which
    setting do I use to keep the system from restarting?

    In earlier versions of Windows, this was usually due to video drivers.
    In Windows 7, in addition to video drivers, storage drivers are also involved in this (and I'd suspect that this will progress back to Vista as drivers are developed).

    In my case, it was my RAID controller driver that was causing this. Interestingly, it was also the driver that Windows Update picked out for me! After a couple of emails w/Microsoft (I'm a Connect beta tester) it turns out that there's a problem with a specific section of the storage drivers that relates to sleep/hibernation. Since there aren't any Win7 drivers for my RAID card, I just don't use sleep in my system.

    I'd suggest finding appropriate Windows 7 drivers for your storage controllers and video card to start with. If you can't find them, please give us the exact make and model of your system (or the make and model of the motherboard and video card if it's custom built - along with the version of Win7 that you're using (32 or 64 bit).

    I am running Win 7 ultimate on a custom built computer using a ASUS M4A79T
    Deluxe Motherboard with a AMD Phenom II X4 955 processor. 8 GB M3 Memory,
    1 Tb WD HDD with a GeForce Galaxy 8400 GS 512 Mb memory video card.
    Using Multi boot..Other OS is win XP Pro 32 bit (Win 7 is 64 bit). If you
    need any other info please let me know.
