Welcome to the boards. What version of Vista and what programs? What is the exact error message?

This could be any number of things. This file that it is trying to write to is messed up. You might trying going to the file on the hard drive and renaming it. Once it is renamed find the version of directx that you are on and reinstall it. Another possible problem is that there could be a bad "spot" on the hard drive. This might call for something different to be done.

D3dx9_27.dll is part of DirectX. If you have newest DirectX version installed, run TrueSpace custom install, and opt out from installing DirectX.
