Here is a matter that I'd be thankful for some help with. Whenever I am typing a message in email as well as typing in Microsoft Word, many times the cursor moves to a diffrent area of the page which causes errors. Words get jumbled up and letters go where they don't belong.

Would be thankful for any help.

Ps. I am using a laptop. This never happened on my desktop.

Control Panel->Mouse->the setting to "hide the mouse pointer while typing" might be cause this. Disable it and see if it helps.

Thanks Steve, I removed the tick mark from "hide the mouse pointer while typing ". Not sure if this is the complete answer. At least after typing about a dozen lines, the "jumping" happened only once.

    Thanks again.

You might be turning on Keyboard Shortcuts. Look it up in Help and Support. You should get a warning though, asking if you want to proceed.

There might be shortcuts associated with third party or the system manufacturer's programs.

Possibly...try pressing the Shift and Alt (all four) alternatively, quite a few times. That might "release" any shortcuts.

Thanks Matt. I will try this..

I notice that after doing what Steve suggested, it solved the problem when typing a document in my word processing program (Microsoft Word). But when I am typing an email the problem still happens... and the problem happened also while typing this message as well.

Hey, im no computer expert here, but I had the SAME exact problem! On my grandma's laptop, I would type and my mouse would jump all over the place. Now, it turns out that the sensor for the nipple in the middle of the keyboard was broken, so if I ever hit any of the keys around it; (G, h, f, b, n, etc...) it would move the mouse. Simply try this-
    Control Panel> Mouse
    Device Select> Pad Only
I suppose this only works if there IS something wrong with the nipple and you have both a nipple and a pad on your laptop... But hey, its worth a shot.

Thanks Andrew, but there is no "Device Select" on my pc..
I have sent my query to Acer, the manufacturer of this pc. They should know [In their FAQ section, they mentioned that accidently touching the touchpad while typing could cause this problem. (this sounds reasonable). They also mentioned how to reset the sensitivity of the touchpad, which I cant access from the info they supplied..

I Will let the forum know their answer..
