    Hi,

My daughter purchased a new laptop with Vista. On her own, she chose home for her network instead of public. How do I change it to public? I do not have any notes on how to do this. Step-bystep would be extremely helpful. Any help will be appreciated. TIA

Open up the Network and Sharing Center (in Control Panel).
There's a link to the right of the description of the network that says "Customize ".
Click on it, then click on the "Public" radio button and click on OK to exit the dialog.

    usasma,

Many thanks for your reply. I will be playing around setting up her computer in the next few days and this solves one issue.
