Windows Vista 64 Bit OS

Does the 64 bit Operating Systems pose any particular problems/issues for the regular home user?

 

Toshiba Laptop @ Amazon.com - Good deal!

Most of the newer laptops are 64 bit OS. Since my sister will be going with everything NEW (including printer), I see a good deal on a Toshiba (which is the Brand I own and am partial to). Opinions on this model are welcomed.

I can't comment on the Toshiba but I recently bought a Gateway DX 4200 with Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I love it. I have had no problems so far. I do use a few tools to insure this. CCleaner, Malwarebytes, Spybot: Search and Destroy and Avast Antivirus. Gateway has come back pretty strong. Check 'em out. And no, I don't receive compensation for the endorsement. LOL

 

One of my computers is a 64 bit, and I don't see any difference between it and the 32 bit except speed. However, the 64 bit computer has better hardware, so that may be a large factor.

Vista allows you to run software in "compatibility mode ", so you can "fool" software into thinking you have an XP install, for example. I have rarely had the need for it, but it does work as designed.
