havent gotten the machine yet from my client and i have researched on the web for answers to this but want to ask all the great techs here to see if there is an easy answer. have so many different results from my searching and nothing seems definitive or easy.

clients machine is an inspiron with vista home premium and he was curious about one of the buttons on the front of the laptop and when he pressed it it now boots all the time into dell media direct and he is now unable to boot into vista.

anyone seen this cuz its the first for me ???

Have you tried searching at Dell for "Media Direct ". Try downloading the user manual, it should tell you about the button and how to use it (how it works).

You might need to press the button again as it starts up.

ill know more tomorrow when the client brings the machine to me but he did say he was online with dell and that was one of the things they tried to no avail. dell wanted him to send the machine to them. some hits when researching said they tried to press the button again but that didnt work. have a file that dell says will fix it but its a .exe but the problem would be to run it and you need to be inside windows to do that and the machine supposidly cant get into window. ill repost tomorrow after i see the machine.

i think thats what dell would do also and i might have to also. some hits i found say that was the thing they ended up doing. if i have to i will blow away the hidden partition where this media thing is that way it wont happen again.

your post to this thread really has nothing to do with this post. you need to post your problem i believe in the software forum not here.
