    OK, I installed my new HDD with a new copy of Windows XP. I am very proud of myself for accomplishing this. However, I chose to make C: an 80GB partition during setup. That worked fine. The problem is, the rest of the HDD space (it's 250GB in all) is nowhere. Maybe I was supposed to designate a partition for the rest, but I thought Windows would automatically make the left over space its own partition. Now I only have 80GB showing up. Is there a way to make a partition with the rest of the space within Windows, or do I need to reinstall XP all over again?

    Sorry to post yet again. Hopefully I can get this new copy of XP to function like my old one soon and I can stop bugging all you kind people. :eek:

    :cool: You're doing well...

    Start->run->diskmgmt.msc

    From there you can create a new partition from the free space and assign a drive letter. If you require further assistance let us know.

    :D Well that was certainly easy! It's formatting right now... I won't be back unless something goes horribly wrong, hahah.

    I'm elated to have a working copy of Windows XP! Now begins the annoying task of trying to make it feel exactly like my old computer... only maybe a bit (a lot) more organized. :p Thanks for the help. What would I do without computer forums?!?

    Hi lovemuffin,

    If all goes well can I draw your attention to a new feature of the boards for marking threads as resolved.

    Using this feature has two benefits. Those who are wishing to help can quickly see that your particular problem is no longer an issue or others with a similar problem may find a solution more quickly.
