Hi: since re-installing wXPproSP3 on its drive moved to another PC, I've gotten this irritating issue. I also re-installed Ofc 2K from its CDs. I keep my passwords in a w2KAS server .xls file. Since these re-installs (done all in a few hrs, no big gaps, cclean.exe run often), whenever I open the passwords file (in Ofc 2K), I get the "MS Office 2000 SR-1... please wait while windows configures..." window. The Office pack is itself updated to SP3, so I also don't get what SR-1 has to do with this at all. How do I stop this irritating window from appearing. It also doesn't happen when I open in NeoOffice 3, just in its native XP/excel. It doesn't matter if I change its choice from plain .xls to "excel 97-2000 & 5.0/95 workbook (*.xls)." While I can use regedit (where would I search?) cclean is spozed to weed out these irrelevant commands, I guess. Thanks.

My guess is that since you moved the drive, its calling for a .msi file and quite possibly is asking for a name and key#. Just plug in the information and whatever disc is called for and it will verify, grab what it needs and you're done with it. No more prompting the next time around.

This same thing will happen if you set up another user profile.

    ;)

thanks, Rockster. The window doesn't have a dialog box. It just opens, and installs by itself, whatever the heck it is looking for.
