I recently purchased the Fantom GF1000EU 1TB 7200rpm HDD. I've had no problems with it, and up until this point would say it's a pretty solid HDD. The other day while rearranging things I reconnected it, but accidentally I put the usb connection in the HDD upside-down and turned it on. now it wont connect to my computer at all. it turns on and sounds like it is working, but wont show up. Is it dead completely? or would the ESATA connection possibly still work? Thanks a lot.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

No idea how you managed to insert the USB upside down, but .....

You have probably blown some of the control electronics in the external case - my guess is that there is nothing wrong with the hard drive itself.

The only way of determining if the eSATA connection is working is to try it :)

If that's no good mount the hard drive in a new case of which there are plenty around.

All right, I'll give it a try. the problem was the cable went into the harddrive with zero resistance so it didnt feel like it was the wrong way...
