    Hi everyone.

I want to remote a PC (XP Pro) using another PC (Vista) via RDC. Both are in the same house using the same router [So I want to connect directly from the wireless network, not through the internet]

When I try RDC I get the message "This computer can't connect to the remote computer. "

I did a lot of research about this. Some solutions didn't work, other made me really confused. I have no background in networking at all.

    Note:

    * Both firewalls are turned off

The question is how to solve this issue?
If there is any port forwarding, please lead me to the way of doing it. Also point to which PCs should I forward the port from?

Please I'll appreciate it if you show me the steps of doing it.

Try this, Right Click on My Computer icon > Select Properties > Go to Remote Tab > Make sure that the "Allow users to ..." checked and click on the Select Remote users > Add a user. Note that username and password. Now try it from Visto - XP via RDC.

    Let us know what happens!

Saying this is a standard XP deployment without modifications.
Run this at xp command prompt: netstat -an |find /i "listening "
Check and see if port 3389 is listed, it should look like something below:

    TCP 0.0.0.0:3389 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING

    Let us know!

Please provide the network configuration for each machine by doing this on command prompt: ipconfig/all

    I solved the problem!

The problem was very simple, the anti-virus software that I have work as a fire wall even when I disable it, so I had to exit from the software and then restart.

Thanks GeoFl a lot for your support. I wish you luck.

Thank you for letting us know that the "firewall" was not disabled!
