I have an ASUS P5ld2 se motherboard. Had an Intel Pentium D processor in it. It was overheating so I bought a new Celeron chip and installed it. The mobo light comes on and the chassis fan and CPU fans run but no post and no video. Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

Have you (re)connected the 4 pin extra power connector to the motherboard?

Check at the Asus website that the model of Celeron is compatible with that motherboard. Download the motherboard manual and check through it. There should also be FAQs at Asus.

Some models of CPU can require a BIOS upgrade to be recognised.

Find the "Clear CMOS" jumper and follow the instructions in the m/b manual to clear it.

Yes Mattman... I reconnected the power to the motherboard. Also reset the CMOS. Took the specs for the MOBO th the computer store when I bought the new CPU. Should work.

Hello Steve. As I replied to Mattman, I had specs with me when I bought the CPU. Thought it was just a Celeron. Guess I need to check to see if it is a "400" or a "D "

    Thank you.

As Matt and Steve have referenced, there is a little more to this. This link will give you compatable CPU's for the ASUS P5LD2 se motherboard. Please note that you will need to look at the CPU, the motherboard revision number and the BIOS version required.

At least you got the socket information correct but as you are learning, there's a lot more to this than simply buying a socket 775 Celeron. The shop where you bought this should know this and should have checked all of this out before they sold you this specific processor. Then again, maybe they did.

    ;)
