    hi there!

I have a brand new computer, but even so, I encounter lots of problems. I dont know what to do because error codes doesnt show up. Windows just freezes! and the only way to make this expensive machine is to do a hard reset! after hard resetting, the monitor would report, "disk read error, please press ctrl+alt+delete" and when i press those 3 buttons, i would just reach the same screen. But when i disconnect the computer from the power outlet, and turn it on after a few minutes, everything is working right again, but im back at square one, windows freezing on occassional basis. Oh this happens even after a fresh install of my OS!
I've check on device hardware, and there aren't any error icons, all of my drivers are up to date. I really don't know what to do now. I do hope someone will help me as this computer is brand new and i find it expensive. please help

    here are my details

    Windows XP SP2
    its an acer aspire M5641
    Bios Date: 08/12/2008
    processor Inter(R) core(TM) quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz (4 cpus)
    memory: 2048
    hard drive is 8% used
    nvidia geforce 9300 GE

here is what i have done so far (ALL TO NO AVAIL)

    1. fresh reinstall of the OS
    2. shifting to vista
    3. repair (from recovery console)
    4. upgraded drivers
    5. upgraded nod32 anti virus and did a scan

    all to no avail

please help me. thanks a lot

The first thing I would check would be the Hard Drive. Get the manufacturers Diagnostics software from HERE.

If the Diagnostics test fails, check all Data and Power cables to see that they are fully seated before condemning the drive. Try a different Data cable to really be sure.

You may have some other problem but this is a good place to start. I'm assuming you have run a CHKDSK /R session??
