    Hi raytraci,

From what I understand, you can't "upgrade" XP. What happens is that Win7 will take your XP and put it in a separate folder and Win7 will be the OS. You can still access XP to get files and folders. You'll read that it's best to do a clean install of W7. Read what the differences are between Premium and Pro and see which one fits your needs best.

Instead of "making the leap ", I'd suggest downloading and installing W7 Release Candidate on a separate hard drive (or another partition). As has been stated elsewhere in this forum, there's a steep learning curve twixt XP and W7 and you may not see anything worth your while.

I don't know your level of computer experience, or what you mainly use your computer for, or if this would be doable for you because you don't want to lose XP as your main OS.
