It surely is very stable and the speed of online view depends on your connection and not on your CPU. And when I watch youtube which I do pretty frequently, the graphics look the same as compared to my gaming computer. The sound actually is better with Cambridge sound works than the latter's creative sound lab speakers.

win2k computer: Dell optiplex GX 110 733mhz, 512 mb RAM. Nvidia geforce FX 5200 125mb. Cambridge sounds works and Dell monitor.

XP pro x64: Reken gaming computer, AMD phenom X4 3.2 ghz. 8 gig RAM. radeon 4870 x2 2gig. Creative sound lab speakers. Asus monitor.

"Best" would be a personal choice...It's better on machines that don't have the horse power to run XP or Vista.

Depends what you mean.... for your hardware? Or in general. If in general I'd say a big fat no.

If you want to stay "legacy ", I'd suggest Win XP SP3, if you want to go with the times Windows Vista or the upcomming Windows 7.

First of all people purchase or obtain computers to run programs not generally to run operating systems be it windows sp, 2000 , mac or linux
Internet explorer or firefox for browsing is one such program
It depends on the level of your hardware resources - enough cpu power , ram hard drive space etc as to what you can run
A couple years ago I had a deluded moronic friend who announced proudly "I have decided its time to move to XP ". At the time he had a terrible Celeron 600 mhz computer with a 4 gig hard drive. Lots of luck
Windows 2000 is fine for browsing
With SP4 installed you can do most of what you do in XP including installing printer drivers and most programs that require xo
The one problem I have with Windows 2000 is the less than robust networking support than you find in XP
If you start swapping wireless network cards it seems to cause trouble with the networking
Best - it is personal choice

Somehow I feel that win2k pro is more stable than winXP pro. This makes sense since the first is aim at businesses and servers and the latter is esentially for home. At least one software causes problem to xp pro, none to win2k pro. The software is Bill James' pagefile monitor.

General consensus (which I fully agree with) is that Windows XP SP2 is Microsoft's most stable OS so far.

Sorry, but who on earth needs software like that

Server 2003 is pretty stable, but will most likely give problems when used on most consumer grade systems (driver availability), so I didn't take it into consideration here.
