I use LavaSoft Ad-Aware SE Personal, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Microsoft's Windows Defender, Spybot Search & Destroy, Spyware Blaster, Spyware Guard, WinPatrol and MVP Hosts file.

Also, CCleaner...frequently and ATF Cleaner about once a month.

Sometimes i also use Uniblue SpyEraser and Registry Mechanic.

I use McAfee Internet Security Suite and Webroot's Spysweeper (which is about to expire). They never find anything of any substance. Once Spysweeper expires, I'll probably go with the freebie: Superantispyware.

Kaspersky Internet Security (we use it at work and get a free home licence for each corporate one)

I use AVG with no Anti Spyware. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware on some time and ComboFix as regular check up. That's all. Do I need something else?

If you've had no problems, then I think you've answered your own question.

Workplace - AVG Paid on main computers with direct net access, AVG free on all other networked but no direct net computers. Apart from one computer where employee (Manger) has opted to pay for their own CA security system, firewall etc...
Home - AVG Paid on my Laptop and my brother uses CA on the main computer.
My preference is AVG as when I had my first computer with my first virus problem, AVG free was recommended by a tech friend and it was easy to use and cleared my problem.

I think people go over the top with antispyware/malware ect.

I use one program, Windows Task Manager. Lets me know if I have anything suspicious running. :D

It's probably true that many folks do, in fact, go "over the top ". The old adage is: no one program does it all. But it seems to me that you need to take that advice with a grain of salt. A huge factor in this is the type of computer activity/surfing/e-mailing that is done. For someone who spends relatively little time on the internet (i.e. me), goes to the same few places online and reads e-mail, refuses to open attachments or click on links... then it's probably true that a couple of programs will suffice. The fact is... in all the years I ran Counterspy and in all the time I ran Webroot's Spysweeper, they never found anything other than a few tracking cookies.

Today my wife and I use McAfee Security Suite and SUPERantiSpyware... period. And neither ever catches anything of any note.

Just to give a little detail, I am running Vista Home premium 64 bit and I am on the web a lot. I'm also a download junkie. I use Avast, MalwareBytes, Spybot: Search and Destroy and CCleaner. Never any problems anymore. I recommended this to friends who always caught things on the web and now they have no more problems. :D

Our Malware Analysts consider AdAware and Spybot to be past their prime - current recommendations are Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware.

    survey opinion

Spybot SD, SpywareBlaster, AVG8.5, ATF to clean up temp files etc.
I'm not quite as savvy as dale456654 yet but I'm working on it. As far as I know, it is good practice to be be on top of your Task Manager like that, but I definitely need the others for now. So far so good.
