Thank for the news but the only two thing that have not been replaced so far are the mobo and CPU . As for mobo I can get one for 159.99 and if needed cpu for 59.00 . As for the psu that is new right out of the box for 39.99 with free shipping. I don't think I am allowed to enter the web site where all they handle is computer parts. They have all brands names.
But will take a look at computer Geeks thanks

jabfarm, Did you try your keyboard and mouse in your "other" computer? If they are OK then it looks like you might have a duff CPU or Mobo. Have you tried IDE cables? You can pick up the set of 2 IDE & 1 FDD cables for about $15-20.00.
As Hawk22 will acknowledge, I have been through the lot lately and unless you have enough ability to really pull things right apart and replace them with "known" good ones, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly which has failed. You could have had a "surge" damage CPU/Mobo/keyboard/mouse as they don't like too much variation in voltage. Pulling plugs when the comp is on is an example of how to "spike" the electronics. The only plugs to pull safely when the comp is on is USB connectors. Don't think I'm telling you how to **** eggs but it is important to realize how these parts can be damaged so easily. Neil.

    Save yourself $144

Your machine is actually a little newer than I thought. Excuse my laziness for not looking it up prior to my first post.

    ;)

Edit: Oops - thats a non-working board. Let me do some looking.

2nd Edit : It looks like you just might be SOL - $159 is the best price I see anywhere too. Perhaps you want to look for a complete duplicate computer and salvage the board out of that.

I believe a Gateway GT5228 uses the same motherboard. I couldn't find your machine on ebay but there are a few 5228's for sale. Please verify motherboard independently.

    ;)

If you know your way around gateway then you will know how to look up there part number that is Gateway 4006147R.
    Number on mobo FIC K2BC51-LF
    WITH nVIDIA GeForce 6100 chipset
    Feature -939 pin .
I can only find it on gateway's site no one else seem to have it or carry it.
As for checking everything that has been done many times both keyboards work fine on old pc , mouse works fine, monitor works fine . it just is a pain when nothing works on the so called new pc.
But with the help of windowsbbs I should be able to get it back up and running .
