I now have Microsoft Works8. It keeps the saved Word Processor, and other sheets in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\My Documents. I would like to save them in a Documents Folder in the Microsoft Works8 Folder. This is where I save them now in Microsoft Works4. That keeps everything together. Is there something I can change to allow this.

Works is a real turkey. I got so ****** off with it when I got my current computer, I went out and bought Office 2003 just to get away from Works.

It doesn't do anything well and is incompatible with other Microsoft programs.

One of the other software companies (can't recall who, after two glasses of wine), is offering a complete free suite of Office-style programs that are fully compatible with MSOffice.

My recommendation is to dump everyting connected with MSWorks and grab the freebie.

The word processor in Works 8 is MS Word .....

In Word - Tools > Options > File Locations - Modify

For other Works documents ..... select the desired location from the Save dialogue dropdown list.

Sorry about that Meaningful Subject. I guess I put more into the Subject instead of adding Meaningful. I will try to do better next time. I do not like Microsoft Word. It does not seem to be as easy to operate as Microsoft Works8. Also when I try to change A Word to a Word Processor, it leaves a blank area at the top of the sheet, 5/8 inch high even when I check No header on first page and No footer on first page. That means that I will someway have to shorten many files to fit the shorter area. Word does not have that area. It seems that I must open Spreadsheet in Works8, and save as an Excel, then I can open it in Excel. I have over 1500 Works files that will have to be brought up and changed to Word or Excel files. That may take more than an afternoon.

It would seem that MS Works 8 is somewhat different from the version I am using (specifically for the simple database) - Works Suite 2004 which includes Word as the word processor.

Try clicking on VIEW and select Normal.

I do not have Normal in Works8. I can chose Normal in Works4, Save and Open in Works8, and I still have the 5/8 inch loss at the top of the sheet. If I open the Works4 file in Word I have the 5/8 inch loss at the top of the sheet.
