Help finding Network Password on windows 98

Hello, I'm new to the site but I registered because I'm in a jumble.

I am trying to help my grandma set up her new laptop,
the computer that is currently connected to the internet connection is a windows 98, sadly I put this obsolete peice of **** behind me years ago.

I cannot whatsoever figure out how to find the network password so I can put it into the wireless connection on the laptop and connect to the internet.

If anyone on the site could help me find the password so I can get things going, that would be great.

 

Honestly, it's asking me for a security phrase, and when it's entered it denies me.

I plugged the Ethernet for the DSL modem into the back of the laptop, it works perfect.
But it won't let me find the password.

I have the password written down, but apparently it just won't work.

 

I tried setting up a new network, no dice.

WHY IS IT SO COMPLICATED BETWEEN WINDOWS VERSIONS.

 

If you mean the log on for Microsoft Networking that comes up just before the desktop appears, we really can't help you crack the password, but there is an easy way to reset it.
Just delete all PWL files located in the windows folder.
