    Hi,
I have an IBM T30 note book which I recently updated the BIOS to 1IET71WW(2.10) 06/16/2006. After this I received the Error 1802: Unauthorised network card is plugged in Power off and remove the mini PCI network card. I have read up on this error and know what it is and I have down loaded the no-1802-cd I ran the patch but it made no difference. Am not sure if I ran it correctly as there is no instructions.
Any help or advise would be welcome. Thanks.

Was there a reason why you upgraded the BIOS? I never upgrade unless I find a problem that could possibly be fixed by one.

When do you get the error? Is it during POST? It seems you have done some research to find the "patch ", but without researching over the same ground, can you give us a link to where you got it?

IBM, now Lenovo for computers, have good (excellent?) Support. I wonder if you have flashed the CMOS for the wrong model?? You need to be very careful about using the correct BIOS upgrade for your model. On the label underneath the laptop, you will find the model number (it should be in the format XXXX-XXX, put that your searches). Here is the webpage
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-49QTT6.html#hp

It seems to me that you have flashed the CMOS using the wrong BIOS. You should be able to "downgrade" if that is the case, by re-flashing an earlier or original BIOS (or an updated version of the correct BIOS).

    Hi, Thanks for the reply.
No the BIOS update is correct. The reason for this error is IBM have what is called a white list which is a list of adaptors which they allow you to use in there systems. Its really a gag so you buy only there products. The BIOS patch changes a setting in the BIOS so you can use any card. It can be done manually by rewriting a line but you have to decompress the BIOS list so that you can read/write it. But I don't know how to do this.
My T30 system already had the patch before I bought it but after the update that was lost, so you have to apply the patch again.
My problem is with XP am not sure about booting to DOS which you have to do to apply patch.
This where I may be going wrong.

    Check link below please.

I can't help much, only read about it like you. Read everything on this page
    http://www.command-tab.com/2006/02/26/thinkpad-1802-error-fix/
    including all the comments.

You might have to go back to the original BIOS.

As it says, it is at your own risk. It looks like there are all sorts of "this might work or maybe that ".

Hi, Have sorted it. The problem was the way I had burned the no-1802-cd ISO file after down load. I had opened the file with ISO buster then dragged the files to Nero to burn. Should have just Burned ISO image direct with Nero, then when you boot PC to be patched the CD ROM takes over and applies the patch at boot up. All working perfect now.
    Thanks for all the replies.
