To answer your questions...

1. Trojans themselves don't do any damage to your computer. What they do, they open small "gate(s) ", so your computer becomes visible to the outside world, thus allowing some bad guy to eventually gain an access to your computer. It doesn't mean, it really happened. It's just a possibility.
You had just one, so personally I wouldn't worry about it, but if you're super-sensitive, you may want to change important passwords, if you wish.

2. Dell Support Center is more, or less worthless program. On a top of it, sometimes it seems to be causing problems. I often recommend uninstalling it altogether. In your case, since you disabled it, we can just simply disable that one running process, and you should be OK.

3. "catchme.sys" is GMER part of Combofix, and it's perfectly safe, however it's sometimes flagged by some security programs as malicious. False, nothing to worry about.

4. Don't worry about any downloads from legit sites, like AMD.

Now, I'm going to take a look at your HJT log.

Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (in Vista, hold CTRL, and SHIFT, hit Enter).

At Command Prompt, type in:
sc stop "SupportSoft Sprocket Service "
Hit Enter.
Wait for the service to be stopped.

Type in:
sc delete "SupportSoft Sprocket Service "
Hit Enter.
Wait for confirmation.

Restart computer.

Post fresh HJT log.

Broni, thanks again for all your help! The only way I could get rid of Support Center was through Reg Run, but it's gone now. Log below.

Question: Do I need to be concerned about the Trojan going to or from the other 2 machines on my network?

Do they display any issues? Is file sharing enabled?

Your computer is clean :)

1. Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

2. Turn off System Restore:

- Windows XP:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click the System Restore tab.
4. Check "Turn off System Restore ".
5. Click Apply.
6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
7. Click OK.
- Windows Vista:
1. Click Start.
2. Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
3. Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
4. Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
5. Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks
6. Uncheck the box for any drive you wish to disable system restore on (in most cases, drive "C: ")
7. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.
8. Click OK

3. Restart computer.

4. Turn System Restore on.

5. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.

6. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately!

7. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

8. Run defrag at your convenience.

9. Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic2520.html

10. Let me know, how is your computer doing.

No known issues on the Win 98 box. The other Xp machine is VERY slow, but it's always been that way. P4 & only 512 mb ram. There are now ads on every folder of the other xp machine, 2 per folder. 1 "security" & 1 unnamed, & yes I do share files over the network.

You can always start a new topic on any computer in doubt.

For now, we need to finish with THIS computer.
