I just recently cleaned out my computer in this thread: http://www.windowsbbs.com/malware-virus-removal/84452-resolved-many-problems.html

However, I still cannot install or use any form of Windows Messenger.

To go into more detail, I tried installing the latest version of Messenger direct from the Microsoft site. The loading screen comes up, and loads for about 3 minutes (which seems rather long). Picture here.

I choose to only install messenger, no other toolbars or anything, and it begins to install.
Then, once it reaches 100%, the loadbar "rollbacks" and the progress goes back down to 0, as shown here

Then, I receive this error message, but I can't find the file that it is talking about in the error message.

    Ideas?

I googled the Error Code in your third picture:

You receive error code 0x80070643 or error code 0x643 when you use the Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web sites to install updates
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958052

There are other hits on Google.

Go to Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs and on the left side go to, Add/Remove Windows Components and Windows Messenger is there. It is part of the Windows install and you can add it from there.

When I did that, I uninstalled and reinstalled Windows messenger, then it appeared in my start menu, upon clicking it, it searced for messenger for awhile, then this came up: http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/2154/msngerahh.png

I hit "fix it ", now when I click on messenger, nothing happens

Looking in your task bar, that isn't the right Icon for Windows Messenger. It is supposed to be 2 little Pawns like in chess, sitting beside one another. One of them is Blue and the other is Green. Did you reboot?
