F-Secure's 'Blacklight', is it any good?

    If I'm not mistaken, F-Secure pioneered the rootkit technology some years ago... so yes.. I would imagine it is a very good application.

    Many of todays Suites run a rootkit program, it's not mentioned in every package.

    I wondered if it was any different to using MBAM or SAS on-demand scanners. I also have the latest McAfee suite.

    MBAM, and SAS deal with some rootkits, but not with all of them.
    Removing a rootkit is not always easy action, and you better make sure, you know what you're doing.
    Often, some legit files may be listed as rootkits (simply because they may match rootkit pattern - some antivirus software, for instance), and you don't want to remove those.

    I know they are not easy to remove or detect. I was just interested in any information anyone had about F-Secure & Blacklight really.
