I'm using Win XP SP2. I'm having a problem with my 'single' line Task Bar.
My problelm started with a Task Bar 3 lines high. I browsed thru different threads, then for whatever reason, my task bar chanded to 1 line hgh, EXCEPT it disappears. Then I put cursor near bottom of screen and Task Bar appears. I move the cursor and Task Bar disappearsl again. I can't seem to lock it in place at 1 line and at bottom of wihdow screen.
There must be a simple solution, but I can't remember how to do it.
    Help!!!

    Hi Irving S.

    Have you tried...

right clicking on an empty space in the task bar and selecting "Properties "
Now Make sure there is no check beside Auto-Hide the taskbar...

You should now have enough information regarding locking it into place but if the above doesn't help please let us know.

    Hi princessmandi8,

Right-click on the Taskbar and select Properties. What do you have listed in Taskbar Appearance?

You might try un-checking everything except "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" and "Show the clock ".

Please post back if it works, or it doesn't, or it's not what you're looking for. :)

    I don't know what happened.....but I have a 2-llne takbar agailn.
The task bar is unlocked. AutoHIde is unchecked. I try to move the top line of the toolbar downwards and the taskbar is hidden. I try to move task bar up and it goes to 2-lines.
    What did I do wrong?
"Hugs and kisses" to the first responder that tells me how to get the 1-line
    bar back

    Hi princessmandi8,

As I type I know someone else answering your question. But, since faint heart ne'er won a snake eating contest, here goes:

Is the second toolbar the same as the first one (Start, clock, etc.)? Right click on the "new" Task Bar. Did you maybe click New Toolbar? Or, is Lock Taskbar checked?

Either way, do you see next to Start what appears to be a couple of perforated lines? Grab it with your mouse and move it to the right until both toolbars wrap.

    Or, repair the Taskbar: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm

It's a free utility and it gives you several options. The first is Taskbar is Missing. Try clicking that and Repair and reboot.

    Any joy?

jpChris:thanks for taking time out of your weekend
your response to me....with my comments in .....

Is the second toolbar the same as the first one (Start, clock, etc.)? I have only one task bar....but it is 2 lines high, instead of one line...which always was.
Did you maybe click New Toolbar? NO, I didn't.
Or, is Lock Taskbar checked? NO, it isn't checked.

Either way, do you see next to Start what appears to be a couple of perforated lines? Grab it with your mouse and move it to the right until both toolbars wrap. I did this, but it didn't help....nothing wrapped.

    Or, repair the Taskbar: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm

It's a free utility and it gives you several options. The first is Taskbar is Missing. Try clicking that and Repair and reboot. When I click on "task bar is missing ", all I get is a wordpad with text....no links or anything to download.

    so, where are we??

    Irving,

If you look along the task bar you'll maybe see several toolbars active, can you do me a favour and list anything ticked/checked in the toolbar submenu when you right click on an empty space in the taskbar (ie RC taskbar/Toolbars -> what is ticked).

    Hi,
check marks on aux. task bar: Address and Links.
(even tho the Address is checked there is no space for a URL to be typed in a blank space).
(at this point in time, I have the "lock the task bar" checked and the AutoHide unchecked.

    your question:
And, when you uncheck "lock the task bar" . . . ?
I can attempt to move the top line of the two-line taskbar by the double-headed arrow cursor, moving taskbar to bottom of screen. But when I take off my finger from mouse button, it comes back to my t wo-line taskbar.
(I still can't a space on task bar for Addresses, whic is checked.

    Hi princessmandi8,

Right click on the link and click on "Open Link in New Window" (or whatever you browser gives you).

Just out of curiosity, uncheck everything, then recheck things one at a time. Or, on the second toolbar, can you check "hide" and see if it gives you the single taskbar? Or, on the second toolbar check "hide" then when you cursor over it, check Addresses and Links.
