Hp officejet 7310xi all-in-one technical assistance

    This printer was probably sitting for while. I picked it up from a friend who no longer needed it.
    My error message says "Remove and check Cartridge on Right." I have done this. I have cleaned the cartridges with distilled water. I cleaned the carriage contacts with distilled water. Still the same message. I went and puchased refilled cartridges at Office Max and installed those thinking the cartridges were bad. Still the same message. Can anyone help me please. This is maddening. Nick

    Check all the troubleshooting information at the HP website. There are a lot of cross-links. If you don't have the manual, download it and read through it. I saw information about a "power reset ".

    I saw information about resetting a spring, but it may not have been your model.

    You should get the most recent software and drivers.

    Thank you very much for the response. I tried an number of the alternatives. I decided to break down and purchase a genuine HP cartridge before chucking this whole thing. Replacing the bad cartridge with the GENUINE HP #96 (the refill from Office Max failed previously) worked and it is up and running. Thank you again.
