Recently replaced my 2 ancient DELLs with new models. I do a lot of downloading, and most ISO images come with an associated MD5 file to verify the validity of the downloaded ISO. On my 2 old PCs I had installed a proggie the was associated with MD5 files, and when an MD5 file was opened, this proggie automatically checked the ISO. Can't remember or find the MD5 proggie. Anyone know what it might be? A google search results in dozens of links that claim a registry problem, and offer to download a registry scan program that will "fix" my broken registry! NOT ! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try HERE . The site is a little difficult to navigate, but it's free, and the only MD5 checker I have used. It's about 10-12 lined down under 'Downloads'

Thanks Ski52. I tried this TSoft utility several weeks ago, but I thought it was not working - it took so bloody long, I just terminated it! Based on your recommendation, I tried it again and waited, and it finally finished. What I had on my old PC was an installed proggie that was automatically invoked by double-clicking the MD5 file. It automatically "knew" what file it had to check, and displayed a progress bar as it checked the file. In fact, it looked almost like the quickpar window. Thanks for your advice. I'll make do with this until I find my old proggie.

After writing the above relpy, I checked my QuickPar program, and lo and behold, there is an option in QuickPar to associate it with MD5 files. I highly recommend QuickPar. There's no cut-and-paste with the checksum and no browsing to find the file you're checking.
