My computer says I had a blue screen error.

    Hello,

    I have been getting errors, saying my computer just went through a serious error, or I get a blue screen errors and it will just turn off while I'm browsing. Also, once in a while, my computer freezes and control-Alt-delete doesn't work, I have to turn off the computer manually. Then when I turn it back on, it will give me one of those error messages.

    A friend of mine, took off (I think this is what is called)- Internet 8, that I downloaded about two months ago, but that didn't work. He emailed me this website and he doesn't know his username. :)

    Hi Wendy, welcome to WindowsBBS :D

    When you get those Blue Screen Errors (Also know as BSOD) are you able to note down the actual error codes for example click on this link

    The most important information would be the stop codes or basically anything beneath Technical Information.

    If you can supply that it would help a lot but fear not, if you can't you will still get assistance here.

    For now, you can...

    Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
    If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.

    Hello again,

    When I go to facebook or MySpace I get errors. I don't get the error message that you showed me, but I get messages like these: (facebook) The following files will be included in this error report: C:\DOCUME~1\Wendy\LOCALS~1\Temp\b9d7_appcompat.txt. (MySpace) C:\DOCUME`1\Wendy\LOCALS~1\Temp\e368_appcompat.txt.

    I also looked under Technical Information and I had 131 modules (have no idea what they are). Wrote some down if you wanted some information there. I tried to get into Data Collection, but it wouldn't let me see anything there.

    I do have Error Signatures for each of the websites too, if you want them.

    To zip a file(s)...
    Download, and install 7-zip: http://www.7-zip.org/
    Right click on a file, you want to zip.
    Click 7-zip, then Add to archive.
    Click on drop-down menu, next to Archive format, and select zip format.
    Click OK.
    You'll find zipped file (.zip extension) in the same folder as the original file.

    Either will do but the exe is probably the easier for you to install.

    Follow these instructions to post a Dump Data Log.

    It is way more easy to just post the log than to upload the log files, which can be HUGE. Also not all members would be willing to download & analyze your log files, that's why we have our utility which creates the log file to post.
