Here goes I am not the greatest at computers so please forgive and errors I make.
A few nights ago on a Dell Insperion (sp?) Everything was fine I checked my email and got into my college classes, then my daughter played a game on disney.com (something I don't normally let her do on my laptop for college) I shut the computer down (start, shutdown) waited for it to complete and shut the laptop. The next morning when I tried to start the laptop it did so slowly something it never does as it boots quite quickly for a laptop.
It flashed an error message so fast I could not read it then it went into the your computer has experianced a problem and to run the chck disc now here is the biggest problem it does it then goes to a black screen then runs the chck disc again it will do this over and over as long as you let the computer run. Something I noticed ALOT while it checked for errors is that I$30 and orphaned files kept popping up in all the data that was coming onto the screen. Not sure what all that means .
Also if you chose the option to start windows (you have to do this quickly)the screen simply goes black. I have pc cillin and everything is up to date and I scan for viruses everyday with nothing found in the month that I had the laptop. I defrag and check for errors every few days and clean up all the "trash" on the computer. This is the only issue I have had at ALL with this laptop. And dreadly one of the worst I can think of.
Any help would be great. Thank you in advance,
    Camelangel

Try going to the Startup Options Menu (where you see the selection for Safe Mode and Start Windows Normally). Tap, tap, tap the F8 key after it first starts.
In the options, select Last Known Good Configuration.

Thank you for your response. I could not do as you said and contacted Dell.
I have only had the computer for a month and they said that the computer was perfectly fine that the problem was that they would have to send me a disc to re-image the computer because it was not allowing me to "see" anything.
Can anybody explain this because Dell would not and should I keep this computer or take it back and get a new one because it is way far a worse problem then they let on?
    Thank you.

The problem appears to be in the operating system or with their original installation. They won't spend much time trying to rectify it, that costs them money. It's much easier to get you to re-image it.

Did you tap the F8 key and go to the Startup Options? Try all those options.

Taking it back? I think you will need to read all the fine print. If you bought it from a retailer, contact them and find out.

Re-imaging covers any of the faults of both parties. Unfortunately, you lose any of your data.

You might say it is their fault, they may say it is yours. If you had of installed your own operating system you would have no one else to blame. If it's under warranty, I suppose one of their options is to re-image it.

Asking them why? You can go to the Support on their website and see if they have an "online" support system. Explain the situation. See if they have a suggestion apart from re-imaging. They have forums (the Dell Community Forums), try asking there.

Thanks Mattman for the response! Yeah I did try the F8 to no avail still got the black screen.
Here is something for you too: This happens on my Toshiba for which the Dell was a replacement. I am beliving I should have bought a bag of lemons would have been cheaper! lol Never had as many problems with all of my computers combinedbbb over the last 11 years as these two.
I am having a hard time installing any program because take for example microsoft office which is essential to my using everyday. Will install but with problems so when you pull it up the program it wil sometimes "Ghost out" and you cannot use the program. The other issue is that in any place for me to type email, online address bar ANY place you would insert numbers letters or symbols my computer will type the letters c or b at random, singly or in a combination of variations. What compounds these problems is that microsoft cannot verify I have the original Vista software when I try to update my windows! Now all of this has taken place since I sent it to Toshiba to be serviced not once but 4 times for various hardware issues that caused parts to be replaced.
I have Norton and it never finds anything upon scanning the laptop. I have even gone to the online scanners and downloaded malware and they do not find anything no viruses or trojans!
I hve cleaned out everything from passwords, cookies etc and the auto fill is shut off. Checked the keyboard for sticky keys still nothing.
Know why I get these mysterious c and b typing in places?

If the same thing happens on a completely different PC and it is free of malware, look at what programs you have installed yourself. Those are viewed as legitimate, but that does not mean that they will work 100% if hardware or drivers are changed and that it won't start causing problems.

I don't know exactly what sort of program it could be. One or two might be a language converter, a "Desktop Manager" or a VOIP program maybe.

    Mattman,
Would it help anything if I just used the cd and totally restored or recovered the computer then? I do not have much of anything on it since I only got it back a week ago from repair. Thank you for all your help.

Yes, that's fine and saves trying to find the cause, BUT and that's a big "but ", you need to think about avoiding the same problem in the future.

You seem to keep having to send the machine/s back for repairs, when it comes back you have the "recurring" problem and it seems to be "cyclic ".

I suggest you be very careful what you install after re-imaging. One of those programs might be the source of all your problems (which seems to be the only link between the two failing systems).
