   can anyone explain why the contents/icons of the 'Desktop' folder are not the same as the actual Desktop (icons)?? Tx

   The desktop folder contains icons You added to the desktop....There are "system" icons like My Computer on the Desktop that aren't in the folder.

   + the desktop also contains items from the All Users/Desktop folder.
